What Gives?

The idea to traverse the world by motorcycle wasn't one of those flash-in-the-pan inspirations but rather, came about after completing a number of overseas motorcycling expeditions and deciding after each one that we'd rather 'just keep going' than return home.

While of course being home is nice with family, business and recreational activities in New Zealand offering more than enough to keep us busy and happy, there's this call of the road that for now, is irresistible. So we'll keep dividing our time between life and home and life on the road until either 'something breaks' or a better offer comes along.

Our offshore biking expeditions started out with us taking part in commercially-run trips but soon evolved into DIY expeditions of longer duration and greater challenges. We prefer trips without support vehicles as that gives maximum freedom and allows our impulses take us where we want.

It's a privilege to visit so many countries, experience cultures and societies that are so different to our own and is an education that cannot be replicated from a book. Then there's the road — the exhilaration of motorcycle riding is without parallel and provides opportunities that are just not there when in a tour bus or even on public transport.
